Jimmies

Overview

Located at 856 River Rd in Mexico, ME, Jimmies is a cozy diner that has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that immediately feels like home. The staff here is friendly and eager to make your dining experience enjoyable, whether you’re stopping by for a quick meal or settling in for a leisurely lunch.

One of the things that really stands out about Jimmies is the variety and quality of the menu. If you're craving a classic American diner meal, you’re in luck. The menu is packed with all the comfort foods you could hope for: hearty breakfasts, juicy burgers, savory sandwiches, and delicious homemade pies that are a perfect way to end any meal. For example, the breakfast menu features everything from crispy bacon and eggs to fluffy pancakes stacked high with maple syrup. Many customers rave about the corned beef hash-crispy on the outside, tender on the inside-and the scrambled eggs, which are always perfectly cooked.

But Jimmies doesn’t just do the classics right; they also add their own twist to some dishes, which makes the dining experience here so special. Take the famous “Jimmies Special Burger,” for instance. It’s a juicy beef patty topped with melted cheese, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, and a tangy homemade sauce. It’s served with a side of golden fries that have just the right amount of crunch. Pair it with one of their hand-crafted milkshakes, and you’ve got yourself a meal worth remembering.

The diner’s location also contributes to its charm. Nestled along the scenic River Rd, Jimmies has a relaxed, down-to-earth vibe that complements the rural surroundings. Whether you’re driving through the area or making it a destination, the restaurant’s quaint exterior and cozy interior offer a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s a perfect spot for a casual meal after a day of exploring the local area or for grabbing a quick bite with friends.

Another feature that makes Jimmies stand out is its commitment to using fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant sources many of its vegetables, meats, and dairy products from nearby farms, ensuring that each dish is not only delicious but also supports the local community. This focus on quality ingredients shines through in every bite, and you can taste the difference in the dishes.

If you’re in the mood for something lighter, Jimmies also offers a variety of salads, soups, and wraps. The Greek salad, for example, is a popular choice, loaded with fresh veggies, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and a zesty vinaigrette. It’s the perfect balance of refreshing and filling. For those who enjoy a hearty soup to complement their meal, the daily specials feature homemade options like creamy clam chowder or classic chicken noodle.

The service at Jimmies deserves a mention as well. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, making sure that your glass is always full and that your meal is just the way you like it. It’s clear that they care about creating a welcoming environment for all their guests, whether they’re regulars or first-timers.

What really sets Jimmies apart is the community feel. Regulars often chat with the staff like they’re old friends, and new customers are quickly welcomed into the fold. Whether you’re enjoying a solo meal or dining with family and friends, there’s a genuine sense of connection here that adds to the experience.

The diner also offers takeout for those who prefer to enjoy their meals at home. The menu is easy to navigate online, making it simple to place an order and pick up your meal when it’s ready.

If you’re visiting Jimmies for the first time, it’s easy to see why it’s earned a reputation as a local favorite. From the cozy atmosphere to the mouthwatering food and exceptional service, this diner checks all the boxes. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick breakfast, a satisfying lunch, or a relaxing dinner, Jimmies is a spot you won’t want to miss.

You actually get two huge lobster rolls when you order the large, and the butter bread is excellent and toasted perfectly. And to go perfectly well with it was the maple shake that made my day.

Jimmies is a great spot on Rt2 for Ice Cream on a hot day. All the flavors I've had so far were very good. The service is good. Pup approved pup cups with ice cream and mini dog biscuits are available for your fur kids too. They have plenty of off street parking.

What a nice place! Staff was super nice and helpful! We went for dessert and when we got there we found out they had food options! So next time we will get food then dessert! But this time we got fried oreos (yummy), my two kiddos split the unicorn sundae (as pictured below) and I got the banana creme pie sundae (also pictured below). It all was so yummy and very filling! We will definitely be back. We are not in that area very often, but will definitely stop when we are. The atmosphere was super cute they had benches and picnic tables, and a cute lobster and crab chair with a butter bench. The parking lot has a good amount of spaces.

The food was phenomenal. It tasted great and looked delicious. We will definitely be back. It was busy and the staff handled the crowd well. Thank you for the great meals.

Our sundaes were just amazing as always, chicken sandwich was very good but the blooming onion was so greasy could hardly eat it and had to cut it with a knife. Im not sure what happened there, if it was just an off day, but everything else was great as always
